“TARANG” Musical group was created by Jayantibhai Sharma in 1993. He is one of the most renowned musician, who earned his degree of M.Mus(Master of Music) from M.S.University, Baroda.

Jayantibhai’s son Hemdeep Sharma also followed the footstep of his father by earning the degree of MOPA(Master of Performing Arts) and M.Phil in Music too.

The  father & son duo started their journey on the path of music to make  TARANG Group of Music , the unique group of its kind.

The Pair of father-son with their deep knowledge of music took the initiative to re-create the ancient and unfamiliar music instruments which were unrecognized in the past, They were 1) Nalikatarang. 2) Kaachtarang. 3) Lohtarang. 

These renovations of the ancient  tarang instruments added a feather into their caps  when it was recorded and felicitated by  Limca Book of Record – 2006 in India and touched the pillars of success.

Mr.Jayanti Sharma

Born on 1st January 1947, in a small village “Vadod” of Anand district, Gujarat, to a very simple family, Music was not in the hereditary, but Jayanti Sharma was naturally blessed with the interest in music. His interest in music encouraged him to take part in various school activities in his childhood. He used to play mouth organ, banjo, and flute on his own without any training. After passing the school, he took admission in a music college of M.S Uni; Vadodara.He took training in Violin for 6 years. After passing the degree course of M.Mus in violin, he obtained the diploma in classical vocal within 4 years from the same institution. He also achieved the degree of Sangeet Shiksha visharad from Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya. He joined as a Music teacher in a High school of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and imparted his knowledge of music to the poor and orphan girls of the same school. He was also awarded the “BEST MUSIC TEACHER” by the SAMUTKARSH institute of Ahmedabd.He retired from the school in the year 2005.

Still his journey in the path of music didn’t end here. He spent his leisure time in the innovation of the ancient classical and unfamiliar Taranga instruments which are on the edge of extinction. He learnt to play instruments like Santoor and Jaltarang on his own. He created different methodic like ‘meend’,’different Layakaris’,’zala’ etc in Jaltarang.

Mr.Hemdeep Sharma

Hemdeep, the son of Mr. Jayanti Sharma, born on 19 April 1978, was blessed with the waves of music in the blood from his father. He started his training in music at the age of 10. He took the training in Tabla from a renowned music institute named”SAPTAK SCHOOL OF MUSIC” under the guidance of Guru Vinod Vaishnav,Shri Sadashiv and afterwards from the highly respected person who took the art of playing Tabla on a high distinctive position in the world,Shri Nandan Mehta. After the continuous training of 7 years in Tabla at Saptak, he joined the Music college of M.S Uni, Vadodara in Violin. After achieving the M.Mus and M.Phil degree, he started his training under his father in playing Jaltarang. For the deep study in the music, he is still learning from a famous sitarist Shrimati Manjuben Mehta. He is giving many live performances in Jaltarang and Kachtarang in Gujarat and other parts of India.
